Down to Earth Clayworks

New in 2012 – Down to Earth Clayworks online will be updated to yet another website (all together now ….. groan!!). BUT the good news for customers in the local area – this will be a shopping cart website.

I have been asked about online shopping since I opened my doors but have resisted the e commerce scenario since pottery can be on the heavy side and breakable, making shipping costs prohibitive. However, I also have a local shopping dilemma …. the studio is located about 20 minutes south of our little city and it is proving to be a challenge getting people out to the showroom. For you big city folks, I know 20 minutes isn’t a big deal but when you live in a isolated community where everything is less than a 10 minute drive away, taking time to drive 20 minutes on the highway out of town, to one store, can be seen as a long trip.

The online store will be available to those in the Powell River area by end of February and will include FREE delivery. Once I have the online shop up and running locally, I will do further investigation of all shipping options and costs to see if it might be viable to offer online shopping out of area.

What do you mean – vacation! Going by my blog activity, you’d think I’ve been on vacation for months but not so. I have been hard at work for most of August and September but not very diligent in keeping the website and blog up to date. I promise to do better AFTER vacation is over.

The studio & showroom will be closed from Sat, Sept 24 to Tues, Oct 4th.

It’s been many months since I posted a blog update. I have lots of excuses – pitter patter of little feet being the big one. Our daughter and grandkids have been living with us for a few months during stage one of their move across Canada to join us in our little corner of paradise (yeahhh!! – so good to have our family back with us) …. consequently, all things pottery have taken a back seat. That move is nearing completion so I am hoping to get back in the studio for more than the very few hours I’ve been managing since January.

As you can see, I’ve also been busy updating my online world, merging my old website and blog. I’m almost there. This post is very timely as I attended the Tourism Powell River AGM last night, which included a great presentation on by Ben Vasdasz, from Think! Social Media. As I am sure you can guess, it was all about taking the plunge into the connected world. So here I am – diving back in!
